Project #6 - Self Portrait

This is vector self portrait created using Adobe Illustrator. This picture was created by using the pen tool and tracing the image within the program. To get more detail from the picture, I used Photoshop and posterized the photo, later bringing it into Illustrator. The creation of this portrait incorporated all the different techniques learned from the beginning of the semester, from meshing (adding texture) to tracing with the pen tool. This was a bit difficult, but it was fun utilizing everything I learned throughout the semester.

Type: This style is like Pop art mixed with Vintage art.

Music Genre: Alternative, Contemporary.

Statement: I made this piece for a friend. I incorporated the two styles of art for the feel with the type of music - contemporary. It reminds me of a causal feel yet retro and he still pops. The artist using this style is the classic Roy Lichtenstein. He incorporates simplicity along with the main image.




For the vintage aspect, it uses a similarity to Gruau Giclee who uses a choppy line in his art.
